It is Time to Say Goodbye to Medium

Hello, dear readers,

The time has come to pen down an article I never thought I’d have to write.

Remember the first time you read my work on Medium? It might have been way back in March 2017.

It feels like only yesterday that I was searching for a platform, a home to share my thoughts, ideas, and musings with millions of eager readers like you.

Medium, with its simple layout and engaging community, seemed like the perfect fit.

Over the years, as we all do, I evolved. My content mirrored the changes in my goals, aspirations, and life experiences. The journey on Medium has been an enlightening one.

With every article I posted, I reached out and connected with so many of you. My words got millions of views, fostering countless discussions and interactions.

Some articles were getting crazy numbers, like this one.

For that incredible journey and those magical connections, my heart swells with gratitude. But as they say, every good thing must come to an end!

New Newsletters

Over the past few months, I’ve realized that the dynamic nature of Medium requires a commitment that leans more towards quantity, perhaps at the cost of quality.

The platform seemed to favor daily posts, catchy headlines, and right hooks to lure readers. While I have no qualms about others maximizing this strategy, my heart has always leaned toward quality.

My words are my legacy, and I’d rather they be few, meaningful, and impactful than many and fleeting.

With that reflection, I’ve decided to bid adieu to Medium.

My words, my stories, my advice, they’ll now find a new home in my two newsletters: Job Search Guide for job seekers, and Full Stack Recruiter for recruiters, sourcers, and HR enthusiasts.

So, why this shift?

As I’ve mentioned, Medium, as wonderful as it has been, no longer aligns with my vision. I yearn for a space where I can connect more deeply with my readers, where there’s greater interaction, feedback, and growth.

With the new newsletters, not only will I be able to send my articles directly to your inbox, but they will also be more accessible via search engines, free from the limitations of Medium’s paywall.

I’m also bubbling with excitement about sharing exclusive content, diving deep into niche topics, and answering all the wonderful questions I receive from readers like you.

Now, you might wonder, “What about all the old articles on Medium?” Great question! While many will migrate to my personal blog, some will undergo a transformation — reborn with fresh perspectives and insights.

However, as is the nature of change, some content might not make the cut, vanishing into the digital ether.

Before I sign off, a heartfelt note:

If you’re reading this, I owe you a colossal thank you. Your support over the years, every read, every clap, every comment, has meant the world to me.

If you wish to continue this journey with me, do sign up for my newsletters. And for daily tidbits, musings, and updates, my LinkedIn is always open for you so feel free to follow me there.

Till we meet again,

Jan
